I am originally from Capulin, CO which is 25 miles from Alamosa. I have three daughters
and seven grandchildren who are my life. I have been in Healthcare since 1992. I was
an EMT with the local ambulance service for 17 years. Later I enrolled at Trinidad
State Jr College to earn my Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and continued my successful
completion of the Registered Nurse (RN) program in 2000. I have worked with nursing
and assisted with the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) programs. I worked with many
organizations as a nurse in hospitals and clinics, a medical mission overseas in Haiti,
travel nursing, and Flight Nursing.
I completed a Bachelor of Science (BSN) with Adams State and transitioned from bedside
nursing to the adventures of academia. I completed my Master of Science in Nursing
from Nebraska Methodist.
My philosophy of education is that all students are deserving of holistic learning
regardless of ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or religious background.
My holistic approach encourages students to provide support that looks at the whole
person considering their physical, emotional, social and spiritual wellbeing. Students,
have an opportunity to be active learners who explore, question, understand ideas,
change and participate in the world around them. I hope for students to become successful
in pursuing their dreams and becoming lifelong learners.
